Wyre Forest CAMRA Pub of the Season – Autumn 2019

The Weavers at Park Lane, Kidderminster
The "cosy" Weavers on Park Lane in Kidderminster was CAMRA's Pub of the Season for autumn 2019. Members of the Wyre Forest CAMRA branch were impressed by the ale and cider house’s extensive list of well-kept beers and ciders and voted it their pub for autumn.

Branch chairman Nick Yarwood said: "The pub is popular with locals and visitors alike, seeking out more unusual beers and ciders. For all these reasons, members of Wyre Forest CAMRA voted it as their Pub of the Autumn 2019. Congratulations to landlord Jeff Ide!”

Martin Trickey, barman at The Weavers at Park Lane, said: "This is our 4th CAMRA award and I think members were impressed by our hospitality and fine selection of ever-changing real ales and hand-pulled ciders. When people come in here, particularly those who haven't visited before, they get the first impression of a proper traditional pub.

The garden terrace of the Black Star in Stourport is a sunny place to watch narrowboats chugging by on the Staffs & Worcester Canal below, enjoy a meal, one of many Wye Valley beers, maybe a traditional cider or a guest beer the pub has on offer.

It was also the perfect spot for owners Maria and Andy Gooding to be presented with the Wyre Forest CAMRA Pub of the Summer Award on a hot Sunday afternoon in July. The terrace was busy with visitors enjoying the pub’s weekend gin festival as well as the excellent beers.

CAMRA secretary Rob Budworth said, “There is an excellent choice of beers, both pale and dark, combined with a choice of light or strong ales. The quality is always excellent, there’s welcoming and supportive staff and with the improved facilities, opening times and the new street food initiative the venue is now ideal for a spring day visit.”
