See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
With five real ales and two draught ciders, this historic town centre family-friendly pub is well worth visiting. In the front bar the stove and large recessed fireplace give a sense of it dating to the 17th century and likewise beams and panelling in the main rear bar. Pork pies from the local Wyre Pie Company are usually available, and customers are welcome to bring their own food at any time with plenty of takeaways nearby. Plates, serviettes and condiments are provided. The large rear garden has a heated marquee and tables which are popular in summer for enjoying a quiet drink in the sunshine. Live music is on the last Friday of the month, a fortnightly Wednesday quiz as and charity food evenings when customers compete with their best curry, chilli or even contribute to a communal Christmas meal in early December. Local CAMRA Pub of the Autumn 2018 and Bronze Pub of the Year 2019. CAMRA members are offered cask ales at the same price as the cheapest by showing their membership card. Cycles may be taken through the side door to the back. Ask at the bar if the door is locked.
